Hi, I’m Jody
I’ve spent much of my career in the spaces between things—strategy and operations, vision and reality, leaders and teams, structure and possibility.
I’m naturally curious about how organizations work: what gives people energy, what gets in our way, why some ideas take hold while others stall, and what becomes possible when we have enough space to see something differently.
I believe the collective can create something greater than any one of us can create alone. My role is often to help make that possible—bringing perspective, thoughtful questions and enough structure for the team to discover what matters and move forward together.
I tend to live in the both/and …
Strategy and people.
Structure and emergence.
Big-picture thinking and making ideas tangible.
Data and the things we can't always measure.
Purpose and practicality.
I don't believe organizations are machines. They're living systems made up of people, relationships, structures, stories, habits and possibilities. Changing one part inevitably affects another.
A few things I believe.
People are resourceful.
My job isn't always to bring the answer. Often it's to create the conditions where the right questions can be asked and the collective wisdom in the room can emerge.
Clarity creates movement.
When people understand what matters, why it matters and how their work connects to it, movement becomes much easier.
Structure should serve the work—not become the work.
I love a good framework. I also know when to loosen my grip on it. Structure creates the container; people create what happens inside it.
How we get there matters.
An outcome isn't truly successful if the way we achieved it depleted the people, damaged trust or created something no one can sustain.
The work matters. How we work together matters more.
“Your capacity, your ability to lead people who you don’t report to, is remarkable… whether your future is as a consultant or as an organizational leader, either one, I am confident you will be successful.”
~ Brian, Consultant /
Former President & CEO
“A big part [of our progress] has been your ability to continue moving things forward and introducing concepts that we’ve maybe run with, maybe stumbled with, maybe dropped… grateful for your patience and reminders and humor… as well as being someone who wasn’t willing to be cowed by any of the ‘but we’ve always done it this way’ conversations.”
~ Zach, Director
“You adapt to the conversation, the discussion and the needs that unveiled themselves… It was always, ‘What does the team need?’… You would guide us toward where we needed to be, but it was never that we were doing it wrong. It was, ‘Here’s where you’ve said you want to go, and I’m going to help you get there.”
~ Jon, COO
A little of the more official stuff.
For 20+ years, I've worked inside organizations, alongside leadership teams, across consulting engagements and at the center of large cross-functional initiatives. My experience spans purpose-driven nonprofits, growing businesses, health and wellness, technology and professional services.
Along the way, I've become a PMP, Certified Somatic Coach, Working Genius facilitator, and practitioner of frameworks including EOS, OKRs, design thinking and StoryBrand.
Different disciplines, perhaps. To me, they're all ways of understanding the same fascinating question:
How do we create the conditions for people and organizations to thrive?
